This is a 2024 Beaujolais-Villages made from Gamay, a red wine from France. The vines range from 20 to 55 years old.
Jean and Agnès Foillard took over Jean's father's domaine in 1980. Most of their vineyards sit on the Côte du Py, the slope outside Villié-Morgon, on granite and schist soils. Jean follows the teachings of Jules Chauvet and was one of the "Gang of Four" with Marcel Lapierre, Jean-Paul Thévenet, and Guy Breton. They returned to old vines, no synthetic herbicides or pesticides, late harvests, rigorous sorting, minimal or no sulfur dioxide, and no chaptalization or filtration. The estate covers nearly fourteen hectares, and Jean raises his wines in older barrels from top Burgundy estates.
