This non-vintage Crémant d'Alsace Brut from Kuentz-Bas is a sparkling wine from Alsace, France, made from Pinot Auxerrois and Pinot Blanc.
Maison Kuentz-Bas was established by the Kuentz family in 1795, and a marriage joining the Kuentz and Bas families in 1895 shaped the domaine as it is today. It sits in Husseren-les-Châteaux, one of the highest points in Alsace, with ten hectares of vineyards, including the grand crus Eichberg and Pfersigberg. Jean-Baptiste Adam, a fourteenth-generation vigneron, bought the estate in 2004. He lowered yields and moved to organic and biodynamic vineyard work. Winemaker Samuel Tottoli, also at the estate since 2004, favors hard work in the vineyards and minimal work in the cellar, using reduced sulfur and drier fermentations for crisp, mineral wines.
