Poderi Colla Barbera d'Alba Costa Bruna is a 100% Barbera red from Piedmont, Italy, in the 2022 vintage. It is purplish violet red, with a vinous, complex scent of strawberries and cherries, along with floral and spicy notes. On the palate it has great body and fresh acidity, and it is pleasant both young and at maturity.
Tino Colla and his niece Federica founded Poderi Colla in 1994. The estate has three properties: holdings in Barolo (Bussia), in Barbaresco (Roncaglia), and at Cascine Drago in Alba, where the headquarters sit. Tino's son Pietro, trained at the Scuola Enologica in Alba and Torino, handles many of the winemaking duties. Beppe Colla, Tino's older brother, helped found the Alba DOCs in the 1960s and in 1961 was the first to bottle single-vineyard selections separately. The family avoids harsh vineyard chemicals and ages in large Slavonian casks without filtration.
