Punta Crena Rossese is a red wine from Liguria, made under the Riviera Ligure di Ponente appellation. Rossese is an indigenous Ligurian grape. This 2024 has a light color yet firm tannins, similar to Nebbiolo.
Punta Crena is based in Varigotti, on the Ligurian coast. The Ruffino family has made wine there for more than 500 years from very old local grapes, including Mataossu, Pigato, Vermentino, Rossese, Lumassina and Cruvin. Their vineyards sit on the narrow coastal strip between the sea and the Alps, at 350 meters above sea level, on traditional Ligurian terraces. Everything is harvested by hand in small baskets. The grapes go quickly to an old cellar dug into the rock, where they are pressed gently and the wine develops slowly.
