Les Rascasses Rosé is a 2024 dry rosé from California's Santa Ynez Valley, made from Cinsault, Grenache and Mourvedre. The name means scorpion fish in French and honors Lulu Peyraud, proprietress of Domaine Tempier in Bandol.
Railsback Frères began in 2015 as a rosé project by brothers Lyle and Eric Railsback. Lyle spent twelve years in national sales for importer Kermit Lynch before focusing on this project. Eric started Lieu Dit wines in Santa Barbara and owns Verve Wine in New York and San Francisco. Their first rosé followed the original Bandol recipe: direct to press, vinified and aged in old wood, with malolactic completed. They now make their wines at Presqu'ile Winery in Santa Maria, using only wild, native yeast fermentation. They also make small lots of Vermentino, Carbonic Carignan, Mourvedre and a Syrah made without SO2.
