REALM CELLARS, MOONRACER ESTATE, CABERNET SAUVIGNON Our Moonracer Estate sits on Wappo Hill near the town of Yountville. At 560 feet above sea level, it's the highest elevation point on the valley floor. Wappo Hill was named after the Native American tribe that was prevalent in the area long before California was a state. The Wappos believed in Animism, a spiritual idea that all the elements of the natural environment have a soul. The Moonracer name and label are an oblique reference to the earliest inhabitants of the place we now call home. We are continuing our replant at Moonracer estate, so the wine remains 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. The Moonracer vineyard is one of the most technologically advanced vineyards in Napa Valley – with the latest research and technology deployed in every aspect, from soil preparation to farming protocols to state-of-the-art misting systems and the latest weather stations. In 2022, all the bells and whistles in the vineyard came in handy for the heat spell, and we were able to deploy the misting system to bring down the temperatures around the fruit zones by up to 10 degrees, allowing us to make wines of balance in a warm vintage. PROFILE: Reminiscent of a high-wire act, this wine is tightly wound with plenty of tension and verve that will reward patience. The beautiful mid-palate is densely packed with intricate layers of fruit, warm spices and fresh alpine forest that we expect will intrigue and delight over time.
