This 2022 Morey-Saint-Denis En La Rue de Vergy from Régis Bouvier is a red Burgundy made from Pinot Noir in France's Côte d'Or.
The Bouvier family has owned vineyards in Marsannay, at the northern edge of the Côte d'Or, for four generations. Each generation added to the holdings, and the estate now covers about 40 acres across six villages. Bernard Bouvier, son of René, made his first vintage in 1986 and combines earlier thinking with modern vinification and vineyard practices. Chemical treatments are banned and yields are kept low. Whenever possible they make one wine per plot to show the character of each lieu-dit. Their range of 26 wines runs from Bourgogne to Grand Cru, including Charmes-Chambertin and Echezeaux, where vines average 50 years old and some reach 80. Long aging in vats gives each wine a taste of its origins.
