Régis Minet Pouilly-Fumé Vieilles Vignes is a Sauvignon Blanc from Pouilly-sur-Loire in the Loire Valley. The vines are 25 to 30 years old, with yields averaging 55 hl/ha. Fermentation is spontaneous with indigenous yeasts, in temperature-controlled stainless steel at under 20 degrees Celsius for 3 to 4 weeks. The wine then ages for 6 months on fine lees in stainless steel, and the lees are stirred two to three times depending on the vintage.
Régis Minet took over the family domaine in Pouilly-sur-Loire in 1976, after the death of his grandfather Robert, a barrel-maker who kept three hectares of vines. Régis left his studies to carry on the work, turned the farm into a full-time domaine and added eight hectares. His vineyards sit at 750 feet on Kimmeridgian limestone and clay, with scattered flint that sets the wines apart from neighboring Sancerre.
