Capraia and Bozzagone and their respective estates are documented since the High Middle Ages: reference is made to them in the donation made by Marquis Ugo di Toscana to the Abbey of San Michele in Marturi today, Poggibonsi, on 25th July 998. The numerous assets offered to the important Benedictine coenoby of Valdelsa also included ลmansi (farming plots) in Bozzagone, one of which is entrusted to a farmer who resides in Capraia. Since then oil and wine cultivation have endlessly succeeded each other, managed by illustrious noble Florentine families. Between the thirteenth and fourteenth century the three plots give life to two distinct estates, which are kept whole until the end of the sharecropping period, in the recent sixties, when the cellar is moved to Bozzagone. Between the nineteenth and twentieth centuries a manor house is built, today completely restored with a number of residences of use to the farmers. The buildings which make up the two rural residences, beyond the renovations and numerous additions which have been carried out over time, keep traces of late medieval constructions in their ancient wall structures. Inserted in the Conca d'Oro, today Tenuta di Capraia occupies one of the most particularly suited and prestigious of all Historic Chianti areas.
