Veuve Fourny Clos Notre Dame is a 2015 Chardonnay Champagne from Vertus in the Côte des Blancs. The wine goes through malolactic fermentation and is vinified in barrel. It is released only in special years, after at least 9 years of aging in bottle, and it has a great capacity for further aging. The dosage is approximately 3 grams per liter, and the disgorgement date is stamped on the bottle.
Veuve Fourny & Fils is a family house in Vertus, with roots in Premier Cru vineyards going back to 1856. Brothers of the fifth generation, they took over the house in 1993. They inherited old vineyards, including the Clos Faubourg Notre-Dame, a rarity in Champagne that has been a Fourny family monopoly since 1930. Their wines are fresh and elegant, made with low dosage to show the grapes and terroir.
