Walter Scott Freedom Hill Chardonnay is a 2024 white wine from the Willamette Valley in Oregon. The producer ferments their Chardonnays in oak with native yeast, runs 100% malolactic fermentation, and ferments the wine dry. It is aged in oak, then fined and filtered for precision and polished aromatics.
Walter Scott was launched eight years ago by Ken, who worked in production and distribution, and his partner, a sommelier and educator. Both had spent years in the Oregon wine industry. They doubled production each vintage and now make 3,500 cases of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, with no plans to grow further. Their aim is clean, correct wines with tension and grace that reflect each vineyard site and vintage, at alcohol levels of 12.8% to 13.5%.
